Since Kendama USA was founded, we have approached our Kendama play, our products, and our company with this concept at our core. We have come a long way since we started, but we’re always looking for ways to improve. With input from players all over the globe, we have made improvements to our production process, our handle shape, and the finest details of our products. The result is a premium Kendama specially crafted for the serious enthusiast. Each part of this Kendama was meticulously thought out by the Kendama USA team with the future of Kendama play in mind.
The Kaizen Kendama features a 3 piece construction with traditional Japanese handle assembly. We have updated the Ken shape for precision balance, and the tama bevel has been widened for enhanced play. We’re also excited about our refined silk paint, which adds extra durability and grip. Balance and spike length were a very important consideration when designing this line. On many of our favorite classic style Kendamas, it would be really frustrating when the spike length was perfect out of the bag, but would settle far too low on the Ken after playing for a few days. The Kaizen bevel intentionally starts shorter out of the box, so that it will settle into an ideal length after a few jam sessions without easily going past the “point of no return”.

Back to basics. Simplicity and playability were the focus in developing the Kendama USA Classic series. Made of birch wood, this Kendama is the lightest and softest wood in our collection. This is the first Kendama we have manufactured using the traditional 2 piece Japanese handle and stringing assembly, instead of the “fixed” handle style of the Tribute Kendama. A perfect choice for the player who is looking for an affordable Kendama, but isn’t willing to sacrifice playability.
Please note that unlike the Tribute models, the Classics are a simplified product and do not include instructions, stickers, extra strings, or a metal reinforcement inside the handle.
It’s time for another awesome Kendama USA contest! In the Doubles competition you will have to choose wisely, as you’ll be working with a friend. You will both play simultaneously, and as always, we encourage you to get as creative as possible. You will be judged on synchronization, creativity, difficulty of tricks, location choice and the overall quality of the edit. Remember the whole point of the competition is to get together with your buds and have FUN! Lets get stoked on Kendama again before summer is over.
Contest Rules:
• You must choose one teammate in your edit. You cannot submit another edit with a different Teammate.
• Creativity and new tricks is a major plus.
• The more synchronized you and your teammate are on each trick, the better.
• The tricks must actually be filmed simultaneously. No editing cheats!
• Your edit MUST be 1:30 or less. If you go over the time limit, it is automatically disqualified, and we will be sad with you.
• Deadline is Sunday, August 5th, at 11:59 pm PDT (pacific daylight time, westside!!). Any edit submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, and great sadness will be felt.
How to enter:
• Upload your edit to YouTube or Vimeo. You must include “Kendama USA Doubles Contest” in the title.
• Send an email to [email protected] with the edit URL link, names of both players, contact info, and a mailing address for prizes.
